Turkish police supported the attack of migrants with tear gas, the Greeks drove the gas to the Turkish side using fans.

The attack at the Castaneon border crossing began at approximately 2:30 a.m. and continued for two hours. According to the Greek side, about three to five hundred people took part in it. At the same time, the Turkish police once again took the side of the attackers, firing at the Greek border guards with tear gas grenades, which was recorded on video.

Earlier, the Greek government decided to close all temporary migrant camps located on five islands in the Aegean Sea in connection with the coronavirus epidemic. Now these camps cannot be left, and no one will be allowed there, including representatives of international human rights organizations and European officials. All sick people in these camps will be required to be quarantined.
At the same time, about 450 migrants who were denied asylum in Greece were taken from the camp located on the island of Lesvos to the continent to a prison-type camp, from where they will be deported to their homeland. On March 1, Greece stopped accepting asylum applications from foreigners.
