“Ukraine has stopped paying its share contribution to the unified budget of the CIS bodies since 2014. To date, the amount of untransferred funds, that is, the actual debt of Kyiv, is more than 300 million rubles. In accordance with the norms and rules in force in the CIS, the amount of debt to the unified budget of the CIS and the procedure for its repayment are determined by a decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth. So far, no such decision has been made regarding Ukraine,” the ministry said.

It is noted that de jure Ukraine continues to remain a full-fledged member of the CIS, is regularly invited to meetings of the highest statutory bodies, is informed about their results and has not submitted an application to withdraw from the Commonwealth.

“Despite repeated statements by the Kyiv authorities about their intention to sever relations, no official notifications about Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Commonwealth were received by the CIS Executive Committee. Kyiv also did not officially withdraw from the industry councils, so Ukrainian representatives can take part in their meetings at any time. There are no obstacles to Ukraine’s full participation in the affairs of the Commonwealth,” the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The ministry also reported that the Ukrainian side will be sent invitations and necessary materials on agenda items for the scheduled meetings of the highest statutory bodies of the Commonwealth: the Council of Heads of State on October 11 in Ashgabat, the Council of Heads of Government on October 25 in Moscow and the Council of Foreign Ministers on October 10 in the capital Turkmenistan.

Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko instructed the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry withdraw the country from all CIS bodies in a week.
