Despite the pandemic, Crimea continues to set tourist records
Over the two summer months, Crimea received a record number of tourists, comparable only to the Soviet years.
The head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, said this on air on the Millet TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, tourists often complained about inflated prices for food and accommodation.
“Thanks to our joint measures, probably the main thing that was achieved is that the holiday season took place. Today we are breaking records, as you can see from the flow of tourists. I asked our colleagues who work on the coast, in this case in all regions of Crimea, such a season, few people remember such a season. Maybe during the Soviet Union there were still so many people.
It is clear that this is a challenge to our resort system, this is a challenge to all accommodation facilities, it is clear that we expect that everyone who was engaged in renting out housing or accommodating tourists, accordingly, these accommodation facilities are not only officially registered, but also unofficial, although would maintain a balance between price and quality, so that the same tourist could come to the Republic of Crimea again next year.
“Unfortunately, there were quite a large number of complaints about the cost of living, the cost of food, there were cases of overestimation of the cost, multiple and inadequate, but we hope that anyway, in general terms, if we assess the situation, then the holiday season has taken place,” said Aksenov .
Earlier, the authorities reported that more than 3,5 million vacationers visited Crimea in July, and another more than 2,1 million in August.
