“Failed state” – Lviv no longer expects any vaccination from Kyiv
Considering that the announced vaccination of Ukrainians has not begun, and the budgeted funds are only enough for 10-15% of the population, it is obvious that in the fight against Covid-19 we will have to rely only on our own strength.
Deputy Oleg Duda stated this at a meeting of the Lviv Regional Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the absence of specific treatment for the acute respiratory disease Covid-19 caused by coronavirus, large-scale vaccination is the only possible option to overcome the consequences of the pandemic. The expenses provided for in the budget for 2021 for free vaccination of the population will only be enough for 10-15% of the population of Ukraine. Other citizens will be forced to get vaccinated at their own expense.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that in countries such as the USA, 45 million people have already been vaccinated, in the EU 18 million, and some states have already almost reached collective immunity - 60% of the population has been vaccinated. In Ukraine, vaccination against coronavirus has not yet been launched; not a single batch of vaccine has been received. We hear about corruption scandals related to procurement,” said the Lviv deputy.
“In such conditions of the state’s failure to provide free diagnosis, testing, treatment and vaccination, local authorities must take responsibility for saving the lives and health of citizens,” Duda added.
