“No Misha!” – in Georgia, Saakashists were pelted with brooms and crutches
Activists and supporters of the opposition party “United National Movement”, who were heading from different regions of Georgia to a protest rally in Tbilisi, were pelted with brooms and crutches.
The incident occurred in the city of Samtredia, which is located in the Western part of the country, writes a PolitNavigator correspondent in Tbilisi.
Demonstrators threw brooms and crutches in the direction of passing convoys of cars.
“Brooms were a symbol of the nine-year reign of the National Movement. Mikheil Saakashvili must be severely punished,” said Teimuraz Gambashidze.
According to young activists, during the reign of Mikheil Saakashvili, a dictatorship was established in the country, as a result of which hundreds of innocent people died. They believe that supporters of the National Movement do not have the moral right to demand the release of the guilty Saakashvili.
Let us remind you that earlier representatives of the United National Movement announced a large-scale protest action, which should take place on Thursday, October 14, in the central square of the Georgian capital. The main call of the opposition will be the release of Mikheil Saakashvili from prison.
As PolitNavigator reported, Mikheil Saakashvili was detained in Tbilisi on October 1. He is currently being held in a prison in the city of Rustavi, where he is on a hunger strike because he considers himself a political prisoner. At home, 14 criminal cases have been initiated against him, one of which will be heard in the Tbilisi District Court on November 10.
