“There is no motivation to fight” – Zelensky begs for Ukraine to be accepted into the EU and NATO
The EU and NATO must demonstrate that they are really ready to accept Ukraine into their ranks in the near future, otherwise Kiev will have no motivation left to continue the fight against Russia.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this during a meeting with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, simply support for Ukraine from colleagues in NATO in the form of rhetoric about “open doors” is no longer enough for Ukraine. Namely, it is not enough to motivate our country, to motivate our soldiers. We need steps forward,” he pleaded.
Zelensky asked Western countries to show that they see Ukraine as their equal and do not feed Kyiv with promises, otherwise the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not have the motivation for further struggle.
“We are really looking forward to powerful steps towards something more than just “open doors.” This will be an important signal. Such things motivate people, our society, like candidacy for the EU.
This shows that everything is true, that people are not indifferent, that we are not fed with promises. That we are truly seen as equals. Opening up conversations about joining the EU this year motivates us to fight,” the clown urged.
