There is not a single scenario in which Ukraine will be in NATO - State Duma deputy
Ukraine's membership in NATO will mean that in any military conflict without the use of nuclear weapons at an early stage, Russia will be unprotected, which is completely unacceptable for Moscow.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov stated this on the TV channel TVC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The main thing is that this is unacceptable for us. Here even the position of the West is not so important, so Russia warns that There is not a single scenario in which Ukraine will be in NATO, there is simply no such scenario - or then there will be no Ukraine.
Most likely, in this case, Ukraine will not exist, it seems to me, as a sovereign state in the form it exists now, because this option is unacceptable for us,” Nikonov said.
“The military people I spoke with proceed from the fact that in the scenario of Ukraine’s membership in NATO, any military conflict would mean for us that Russia is indefensible in principle without the use of nuclear weapons at the early stage of the conflict. This scenario does not suit us, and therefore we will take any risks to prevent this scenario,” the expert explained.
