“There is no conspiracy theory”: Lavrov on events in Kazakhstan
Moscow understands the reasons for the recent events in Kazakhstan and is in dialogue with the local authorities who are conducting the investigation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat urged not to look for a conspiracy theory in the reasons for the pogroms in Kazakhstan.
“There are a lot of conspiracy theories now. One part of these theorists speculates that all this was arranged by the West in order to weaken our position before the negotiations in Geneva and Brussels, while others accuse us of having provoked this in order to break into Kazakhstan and take control of it. This is all from the evil one,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The reasons are roughly clear to us; we are discussing them with our Kazakh colleagues and with other CSTO countries. The Kazakh authorities are conducting a thorough, full-fledged investigation and I am confident that they will announce the results when this investigation is completed. This has nothing to do with the machinations of Moscow or any other conspiracy theories. I repeat once again, this is the business of Kazakhstan and Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, is actively involved in this,” Lavrov said.
