Karimov’s hospitalization has been known since the end of August. The independent Fergana agency reported on August 29 his death from the consequences of a stroke. The government refrained from making official statements; on the night of September 2, only stating that Karimov was in critical condition. Unofficial sources say that the president's funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.
