Will A Just Russia really support candidates from local developers in the Moscow region?
According to insider information, for the upcoming elections to the Moscow Regional Duma in Domodedovo in September this year, United Russia has decided to nominate a local head on the lists. This is due to investigative checks against the head of the city, Alexander Dvoinykh, for embezzlement of money for the reconstruction of a local recreation center. As a result, Mr. Dvoinykh decided to flee the city under parliamentary immunity.
His main competition was to be a local young activist, Alexander Cheusov. He recently announced his candidacy for A Just Russia in the local independent newspaper Golos Domodedovo. However, “United Russia, the city district authorities were afraid of an ordinary student who had no previous experience in politics.
According to our information, today, the day before the congress, the head of the city, through the head of Domodedovo “A Just Russia” - Natalya Vladimirovna Konshina (director of one of the largest development companies in the city, which receives contracts and tenders for development from the administration) decided to put pressure on the presidium of “A Just Russia” and nominate an ordinary, unknown public sector employee. And now, at the suggestion of Konshina, the A Just Russia party is removing Alexander Cheusov and nominating an unknown government candidate - Alexander Cherepakha.
Once again we see that the authorities do not need candidates who can do at least something for the residents. Will A Just Russia, which has recently begun to attract many new and promising politicians, abandon a young and strong candidate in favor of someone unknown? Is the party really prepared to trade high support from residents in a densely populated area for 3% in future elections and field a candidate from a local property developer?
