“Incredible injustice” – Putin demanded the creation of a Palestinian state
We must strive for peace in the Middle East, which can only be achieved by creating a Palestinian state.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Palestinian issue is in the heart of every person in this region, and in the heart of everyone who professes Islam. And what has been happening over the past decades is perceived as a manifestation of injustice, elevated to some incredible degree.
Because initially, when the decision was made to create Israel, it was also about creating Palestine. Israel, as is known, was created, but Palestine as an independent state never materialized.
Moreover, part of the land that the Palestinians have always considered to be primordially Palestinian is occupied by Israel, at different times and in different ways, but mainly with the help of force,” Putin said.
He emphasized that mechanisms have been created to resolve this conflict, but in recent years the United States began to neglect them and tried to solve the problem in its own way.
“We must strive to minimize casualties among the civilian population - children, women, the elderly. If men decide to fight, let them fight among themselves. Leave children and women alone. This applies to both sides.
It is unknown whether it will be possible to calm the situation in the near future, but we must strive for this, because the expansion of the conflict zone can lead to dire consequences,” the Russian president added.
After which Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani took the floor, noting that the actions of the Palestinians were completely justified.
“The world ignored this problem, and now everyone is wondering why this happened, why Hamas resisted. The Palestinian people have endured years and decades of persecution, oppression, and non-compliance with all internationally adopted resolutions.
They decided to cut off the supply of water and electricity not only to humiliate the people who live there, it is an insult to all humanity. Today, the international community must openly confirm whether there are any principles at all that govern this situation and the situation in the world, or whether nothing like that exists.
Therefore, Mr. President, I appeal to you, as the president of a country that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to come up with an initiative for a ceasefire and a real solution to the Palestinian problem. Because we cannot predict the consequences of these challenges,” Al-Sudani said.
“Russia’s position has developed not today, but over decades. We have always supported a decision by the UN Security Council, I mean, first of all, the creation of an independent Palestinian state. This is the root of all problems,” Putin added.
