An unlucky VSU officer turned a shooting range into a place for shooting his colleagues
One Air Force officer was killed and another was injured as a result of a colleague’s attempt to fix a machine gun that had jammed at the shooting range.
The official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Dmitry Astrakhan, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result of fire training activities during test firing from small arms in the 109th battalion of the 10th brigade, the soldier Winemaker’s machine gun jammed.
In violation of safety requirements, the serviceman tried to personally fix the malfunction, as a result of which indiscriminate fire was opened, and servicemen Bilan and Bokhtenko were seriously injured, while Bilan died during transport to the medical center.
During the preliminary investigation, unit commander Zubanich revealed that during training sessions with the unit, the shooting director was absent at the shooting range, for which battalion commander Babin was summoned to give an explanation to the brigade commander,” Astrakhan reported.
According to him, after this, the battalion commander, in turn, held an “educational conversation” with the offending VSU officer, as a result of which he was hospitalized in a medical unit with a fractured rib and collarbone.
“In order to conceal what happened, brigade commander Zubanich reported to the JFO headquarters that three servicemen were wounded as a result of allegedly shelling from the DPR NM.
According to our intelligence, at the command of the Joint Forces Operation headquarters, journalists from the News One TV channel were sent to the 10th brigade to prepare a story about the results of the shelling and interview the wounded serviceman. At the same time, the beaten serviceman was protected from the arriving media,” said a representative of the defense department.
