“Independent and European” Kosovo is emptying – Albanians are fleeing to Germany
Over the past four months, almost 200 visa applications have been submitted to the German Embassy in Pristina.
Thus, since the beginning of December, about 11% of “citizens of the Republic of Kosovo” have expressed their intention to travel to Germany, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Applications from Kosovo Albanians over the past four months have significantly exceeded the limit of the German Embassy in the province, according to which it can accept from 500 to 800 applications per month and issue up to 5 visas per year.
“From the beginning of December to the end of March, the embassy of this country (Germany - ed.) in Pristina received 199 thousand 783 visa applications. This month, 48 thousand 44 requests were submitted to this embassy. In February there were about 2 thousand less,” reports the RTS TV channel, citing Albanian media in Kosovo.
At the same time, Berlin several years ago introduced a privileged approach to workers from the Balkans, which largely affected Albanians from Kosovo. For this reason, there are significantly fewer applications for visas to the embassies of other European countries in the region - the Swiss Embassy received 8 thousand 737 visa applications from November last year to January this year, the Croatian Embassy - 1 thousand 944 requests.
Albanian analysts in Pristina note that the intensity of visa applications at the German Embassy is constantly at a high level, and if the trend continues, then within this year a third of the Albanian population will want to leave Kosovo.
