“Ignorance of Russia led to this tragedy” – Podolyak attacked US analysts
The West and the United States were unable to predict Russia's intentions, its resource capabilities and what scenarios it was considering, becoming a victim of Russian propaganda, which itself demonized the Russians all this time.
Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on air on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I still cannot believe that analytical thought was so weak in the countries of our partners, I mean, including in the USA. They knew absolutely neither Ukraine nor Russia. God bless Ukraine, I understand that we were not as subjective as we are today, but nevertheless. Such a volume of errors in assessing the intentions, potential, and resource capabilities of the Russian Federation, of course, could not be expected.
That is, there is almost a complete absence of analytics that talk about what Russia was going to do, how it was going to do it, what scenarios it was developing, and so on. That is, all international politics was built on such a situational process - someone said something. And here, of course, this Russian propaganda played a big role, which for twenty years formed the image of the monster. A monster that you need to be afraid of, that Russia is a partner, yes, a negative one, but a serious partner with whom you need to talk seriously, sometimes make concessions to him, but it’s better to always make concessions to him,” he reasoned.
“This is a fundamental mistake. I no longer take into account the stupidest childish, infantile mistakes of Mrs. Merkel, from the point of view of drawing the gas monopoly into the economic space of Europe. And here, absolute ignorance of Russia and the internal component of the Russian Federation led to this tragedy too,” Podolyak worried.
