“Not a drop of water!”: Trans-Ukrainian Sabbath on the border with Crimea

Members of the Mejlis and Ukrainian “activists” staged an action on the dam of the North Crimean Canal called “Not a drop of water in occupied Crimea.”

Several dozen participants drove a motor rally from Kherson to the border with the peninsula at the Kalanchak checkpoint, climbed the dam and waved flags, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the organizer of the action, a member of ex-President Petro Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party Oksana Pogomiy, who fled Crimea after supporting the coup in Ukraine, the peninsula does not need water.

“When the supply of water and electricity stopped in 2014, we celebrated it... Not a single Ukrainian, real, conscious Ukrainian, needs water in occupied Crimea. This issue should not be on the agenda at all. This is a violation of all international conventions. It is the occupiers who are responsible for the occupied territories and for providing for the population. Only the military base needs water in Crimea,” the local resource “Kherson Online” reports her words.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy from Kherson Aleksey Zhuravko called the last action a disgrace for Ukraine, which once again strengthened Crimeans’ confidence in the right choice in the 2014 referendum.

“At the dam of the North Crimean Canal in the Kherson region, activists held the action “Not a drop of water in occupied Crimea.” Right. Just stand there! So that no one in Crimea has any doubts that the Crimeans made the right choice to join Russia! This is genocide, a crime that has no statute of limitations. But in general, in a word, they are just morons. What a bunch of outcasts and swindlers have turned the country into!”, summed up Zhuravko.
