No region of Ukraine greeted the Nazis as magnificently as Galicia - historian
It is necessary to separate the Ukrainian and Galician collaborationism that took place during the Second World War.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.
“Not a single region of the USSR occupied by the Germans greeted the Nazis so noisily, so joyfully and so magnificently as Galicia. And this is an indisputable fact! I often heard the offended exclamations of Galicians: they say that there were collaborators everywhere. Yes, of course, there were,” the expert admits. – But you will not find in other regions a single photograph of such mass ceremonial meetings of the Nazis as were held in the cities and villages of Western Ukraine. Neither in Poltava, nor in Mirgorod, nor in Zaporozhye, and especially in the Donbass, the Germans were never greeted like this. And by the way, in these regions the local population did not organize brutal pogroms against Jews, as the Ukrainians of Lvov and a number of other settlements of Galicia did in June-July 1941.”
“Therefore, we must separate Ukrainian and Galician collaboration - in terms of their scope, significance, and ideological content, these were not entirely identical phenomena,” Kornilov summed up. “In addition, we must not forget that due to the lack of personnel in the east, the Germans often brought collaborators from Galicia there.”
