“There is no coal, no gas”: Pustovoitenko called the situation in Ukraine a “catastrophe.”
Due to energy shortages in Ukraine, it is necessary to reduce the voltage in the network, which poses a threat to the stability of the system and the safety of consumers.
Valery Pustovoitenko, ex-adviser to the President of Ukraine, ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Gas is sold for $1300. This is a pandemic for our factories. Today we have already begun to conclude contracts at $1300 per 1000 cubic meters of gas. Two boiler houses in Kharkov and Kyiv were switched to gas, because coal must be conserved. All the time it was the other way around: they kept gas and used coal. And we have reached the point where we have absolutely no coal or gas. It's just a disaster. It will be very difficult to survive the winter; rolling blackouts will not satisfy our citizens,” the former prime minister believes.
“In addition, there is already a standard agreement between oblenergos and consumers - they already have the right to supply electricity with a voltage of not 220 volts, but 10% less. That is, the network is no longer 220, but 20 volts less, it’s 202, sometimes 203. This is already a danger for our energy system, this is a danger for household appliances, for citizens. Even when the voltage is 205 volts, this is already a disaster for the energy system of our state,” summarized Pustovoitenko.
