This is how Vadim Karasev, director of the Institute of Global Strategies, described the current election campaign at a press conference in Kyiv, without, however, naming the full names of the shadow puppeteers.
“Three or four oligarchs will place their people on all lists,” the political expert is sure. “There is an invisible struggle going on over who will succeed more - a person with the last name L, the last name K or A. Let’s not decipher it, let the intrigue remain - maybe someone doesn’t know these people.”
According to Vadim Karasev, such an approach will indicate the continuation of the “oligarchic model of democracy, which is formed from above” and the formation of “oligarchic, rather than real, political pluralism.”
The political scientist also noted that in this election campaign he was struck by the abundance of individual advertising of majoritarian candidates on central channels.
“There were advertisements for parties and leaders, but I don’t remember any unknown majority leader launching a series of commercials on Inter, 1+1, Ukraine,” emphasizes the director of the Institute of Global Strategies. “But there seems to be no money in the country.” Wealthy people go to such expense because they are trying to grab onto pieces of the old political reality and crawl into a new one.”
