“There’s nothing terrible in this,” - the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation about the departure of airline management abroad
Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev does not condemn senior managers of Russian airlines who quit and left the country after the introduction of Western sanctions.
He stated this today in the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is a very sensitive issue. I cannot answer for all colleagues. Andrey Kalmykov, general director of Pobeda, is a very good manager, but he decided that he would not be able to work in these conditions. Therefore he left his post. There's nothing wrong with that. Pobeda Airlines is our first low-cost carrier, it is 7 years old. The team has already been rebuilt, and now his deputy is acting in his place.
Mikhail Poluboyarinov (former CEO of Aeroflot) he has not left anywhere, he is in Moscow. It so happens that people in stressful conditions that require quick decision-making simply cannot work. He made a decision for himself that he could not hold back the process, but he would work in one of the Russian companies as a deputy, he did not disappear anywhere
Alexander Ponomarenko (one of the co-owners of Sheremetyevo Airport), Mikhail Vasilenko (General Director of Sheremetyevo) they are there.
I don't see any irreplaceability in these personnel decisions. The most important thing is that we did not lose any planes. We have given the opportunity to our companies, despite the fact that the leasing is located abroad (they were traditionally registered in Bermuda and Ireland), we have resolved these issues here. We believe that the country cannot remain without aviation. I think we will find a solution on how to save it all,” Savelyev said.
