Nitsoi reminded Svidomo that Monday is New Year’s Day in Ukraine
It is very sad that Ukrainians, an ancient nation with its own chronology, borrow traditions from their neighbors, forgetting their own.
The odious Ukrainian nationalist writer Larisa Nitsoi stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The national idea was formulated by Vyacheslav Maksimovich Chernovol, that we must build Ukraine on the basis of the indigenous nation - Ukrainian, on the basis of our heroes who fought for our independence, on the basis of our traditions, our culture, our cuisine. In Ukraine, Ukrainian should dominate in everything, not just the language.
A small example: on February 18, television said that Chinese New Year had arrived. And I want us to hear from the news on March 22 that the Ukrainian New Year has arrived, because Ukrainians have celebrated spring all their lives. And I want us to show our tradition to everyone. According to the Ukrainian calendar, today is the year 7530.
You see, we are a very ancient nation, we have such traditions, but we stuffed them into a chest, closed the chest and borrowed from Chinese dragons, Russian Maslenitsa, or St. Valentine from Europe. No question, let’s talk about it, but where is the Ukrainian content? where are our larks? – the nationalist lamented.
“Before the New Year, before the 22nd, March 17th turns out to be a “lyali” day for Ukrainians (from “lyalka” - doll, - ed.) They made such a “lyalya”, cut out larks, hung them on sticks, and with this “lyalya”, ribbons, and larks they went to the fields to meet migratory birds,” Nitsoi said.
