Nowhere do they speak Crimean Tatar - Deputy Director of ATR
Employees of the pro-Mejlis TV channel ATR practically do not communicate in the Crimean Tatar language.
About this on the air of the program “Kiselev. Author’s,” said Deputy General Director of the TV channel Aider Muzhdabaev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have three languages – Crimean Tatar, Ukrainian and Russian. There are problems with this - it’s hard to maintain the rating throughout the day: the viewer watches in Ukrainian, then a block starts in Crimean Tatar, and he leaves. But our social function is such that we cannot do without it,” the journalist said.
He himself admits that he knows Crimean Tatar only enough to say hello and offer coffee.
“I started teaching before the annexation. I understood how the language works, but, unfortunately, I don’t have time yet, and I can’t do it systematically. Well, nowhere do they speak Crimean Tatar. Even on the ATR channel there is little talk in Crimean Tatar. Those employees who speak well talk to each other - “hello, hello,” “how are you,” “hello,” “will you have some coffee?” But literary, talking about politics in Crimean Tatar... We have people who know how to do this, we have people who conduct news and commentary in Crimean Tatar. I envy them very much. I will definitely speak Crimean Tatar,” Mujabaev promised.
