No Peter the Great! Kyiv historian called for recoding all of Poltava
The Sampson Church-monument in Poltava was allegedly painted by a Ukrainian artist, which can be used by Kiev to brainwash the population.
Ukrainian historian Olga Kovalevskaya stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we talk about this church (Sampson’s Church in Poltava, founded on the anniversary of the Battle of Poltava in 1852 - editor’s note) and the supposed fulfillment of the covenant of Peter the Great, we must say that the inside of this church was painted by a unique Ukrainian artist, and perhaps This is exactly what you need to pay attention to during the excursion.
That is, a person who, by the will of fate, found himself in certain circumstances, he became a student of Murashko in Kyiv, then studied at the academy with Repin himself. And the painting of this Alexey Sokol is unique, this is a unique example of Ukrainian modernism, we simply don’t have such things.
And having such a monument supposedly to the Battle of Poltava, we can really talk about recoding, and talk about this monument with reference to Ukraine,” Kovalevskaya shared the idea.
