No peace: the West throws Ukrainians into the furnace of war
From the West, Kyiv is receiving unequivocal instructions - not to enter into any agreements with Moscow.
A leading expert at the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, Oleg Nemensky, stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, sometimes voiced opinions about the possibility of certain compromises and territorial concessions on the part of Ukraine contradict the main Western line set by Washington.
“And it will not change until the appropriate command arrives from overseas. Even if Ukraine wanted to negotiate peace with Russia, it would not be allowed to do so. This is something that Ukrainian leaders themselves understand. Therefore, they are forced to make excuses to their population due to the lack of negotiations. And at the same time they demonstrate the rigidity and inflexibility of their own position in order to earn points from local patriots,” the expert told Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
He considers unfounded the assumption that during the upcoming visit to Kyiv of the leaders of France, Germany and Italy, distinguished guests could try to persuade the hosts to engage in dialogue with Moscow.
“European leaders will not persuade their Ukrainian colleagues to compromise with Russia. And they understand perfectly well that this is impossible, since it is not their opinion that is decisive for Kyiv,” Nemensky concluded.
