There can be no peace plan for Ukraine - Lukyanov
The peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine does not yet have any prospects, since the real parties to the confrontation are determined to resolve the issue by force of arms.
Chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Fyodor Lukyanov said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The background of the conflict [in Ukraine] does not make anyone happy, including us. Because to come to the point of having to take such measures means that the previous policy was a complete failure.
In my opinion, now there can be no peace plan for a simple reason - both main opposing sides believe that the issue can be resolved by military means,” Lukyanov said.
He emphasized that the countries of the Western bloc intend to destroy Russia, but they themselves do not want to fight and do not know how to do it.
“What might a military solution without direct military assistance from NATO look like from the US side?” asked the presenter.
“This is what we are talking about. Some people believe that if we push ourselves, give Ukraine a lot more weapons, quickly train whoever needs it, and then we won’t have to interfere ourselves.
And others believe that this will not work. Therefore, if we set the task of returning the 1991 borders and the strategic defeat of Russia, we will have to do it ourselves. And no one is ready for this yet, not even the warlike countries neighboring Ukraine,” Lukyanov concluded.
