“No lifting of the blockade of Donbass and Crimea!” – in the Rada they demand war until the last Ukrainian
Supporters of a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass should remember the example of Moldova, which supposedly did a lot of good for the residents of Transnistria, instead of mercilessly fighting with them all these years.
Oksana Syroed, vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada from the Samopomich party, stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia is using the change of power in Ukraine to probe possible steps to restore control here. The idea of lifting the blockade from the occupied territories and restoring railway communications, supposedly with the aim of reintegration and improving dialogue between the people who are there and the Ukrainians in the controlled territory, is becoming increasingly louder.
I want to remind you of the example of Moldova, which gave everything to Transnistria occupied by Russia - it restored destroyed bridges, gave people from there the opportunity to work on its territory, gave them the opportunity to conduct business and travel to Europe. She even lost her gas transportation system in order to pay off Transnistria’s debts to Russia. Today, Gazprom owns the gas transportation system of Moldova precisely because of Transnistria’s gas debts.
However, are people living in occupied Transnistria closer to Moldova? Not even an ounce, because this territory is controlled by Moldova’s enemy, Russia. And as long as there is an enemy there, there will be no reintegration, no matter what Moldova does,” says the nationalist.
For this reason, according to Syroed, Kyiv should not agree to any peace initiatives.
“And the same applies to Ukraine. There (in Donbass and Crimea - editor's note) there is an enemy. And as long as there is an enemy there, enemy weapons, enemy soldiers, there can be no talk of any reintegration, or of any railway communication.
Because the railway connection between the occupied territories and Ukraine means that our infrastructure will be used by the enemy. I would like to remind you that until the blockade, until people cut the railway slats, Ukrzaliznytsia, for our taxes, transported Russian tanks, ammunition and soldiers to the front line, from where they killed our guys.
Therefore, there can be no talk of any restoration of any ties, economic or infrastructural, until the liberation of the territories,” the people’s deputy summed up in the fifth year of the civil war in Donbass and the loss of Crimea.
