"No Vatican." The former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is against the meeting between Zelensky and Putin
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky cannot meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, since this meeting does not meet the interests of Kyiv.
The ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe Boris Tarasyuk stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Against the background of what we now have with our Western partners, when we are closer than ever to building this very anti-Putin coalition, not with slogans, but with concrete deeds, against this background, to do, excuse me, solo on the button accordion, it looks like I would say unconventional.
If we talk about the agenda, there is none. There is no agenda for the Ukrainian-Russian summit. Our key topics in Ukrainian-Russian relations are aggression against Ukraine, the occupation of Crimea and Donbass, and the losses that we have suffered and which the Russian Federation must compensate us. Here are three key topics on any agenda. Everything else has very little to do with bilateral relations,” the diplomat said.
According to him, it is good that the meeting should be organized by a representative of the president, and not by the Foreign Ministry.
“Perhaps this is good for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, because the fact of failure to prepare such a meeting will fall not on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but on the staff of the president’s office, because such a meeting will not actually happen. It can only take place if Putin is assured that Zelensky will come with surrender. I hope this won't happen. At least the public won't allow it. Therefore, such a meeting cannot happen in principle. Regardless of whether the Vatican or the North Pole will be there,” the diplomat believes.
