There will be no integration with Russia under Lukashenko - expert
Road maps for the integration of Russia and Belarus, which are currently being developed by the governments of the two countries, will not be implemented.
Political scientist Bogdan Bespalko stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, issues of political and economic integration, even cellular roaming, are not being resolved due to the fault of the Belarusian side, which is openly slowing down integration.
Mr. Lukashenko’s latest statements that the Great Patriotic War is no longer “our war” demonstrate this well. Therefore, I doubt that the road maps will be implemented,” Bespalko is sure.
At the same time, he believes that Russia should provide citizenship to Belarusians who are in opposition.
“There is a preferential treatment for citizens of Belarus. They can work and live with a Belarusian passport. This is relevant for those who are persecuted in Belarus for some reason.
For example, he acts as an opposition figure and cannot return back because he will be immediately arrested.
For example, the Belarusian special services tried to kidnap Yuri Baranchik, a Russian journalist. They could have taken him away and tried him there, since he is a citizen of Belarus. If he had a Russian passport, he could have gone to the police,” Bespalko noted.
Let us recall that in 2017, Yuri Baranchik was detained in Moscow at the request of the Investigative Committee of Belarus.
His detention was related to the case of pro-Russian publicists Yuri Pavlovets, Sergei Shiptenko and Dmitry Alimkin, arrested in December 2016 in Minsk, who were accused of “inciting ethnic hatred” for critical publications in the Russian media, dedicated, among other things, to the sharp rise of nationalism in Belarus .
The Dorogomilovsky District Court refused to satisfy the prosecutor's request to take Baranchik into custody.
