“No reintegration, we will return Donbass by force” – Bessmertny
Ukraine must admit that it has lost control over Donbass and temporarily forget about it, removing loyal populations from the republics.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus and the former representative of Kyiv at the negotiations in Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, said this on the air of the UA: First TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Donbass can only be returned by force of arms and there can be no peaceful reintegration in the seventh year of the conflict.
“We could have talked about this even before the fifth year of the war. I was one of the ideologists of the reintegration process. After the fifth year has passed, this topic needs to be closed, it is necessary to clearly recognize that this territory is occupied by the enemy - both Donbass and Crimea. Today we use the word war every once in a while officially.
Next is to adopt a program for the resettlement of people loyal to Ukraine, who respect and recognize Ukraine as a state, the Constitution of Ukraine and Ukrainian law. Move them out of there and take a break. Honestly speaking: this is Ukraine, we are unable today to return it, this part, and therefore we will work to achieve the level of the army, the military-industrial complex, the unity of society so that we return these territories.
No one is going to give up these territories, but we need to clearly understand that armies win wars. The only way.
The current situation and the current slide are very dangerous. There can only be one counteraction to this slide - what I said: the game of reintegration in the current situation, under the current political leadership will end in a betrayal of national interests, for me this is obvious and understandable. The word reintegration is used in this case to avoid the word control. That is, there will be no such control, which means that we will get something alien in the body of the Ukrainian body that this state will eat,” Bessmertny said.
