“We know catastrophically, shamefully little about the war. Our ideas about it are determined, at best, by textbooks, and at worst, by Soviet myths about the “Great Patriotic War.” Of course, it would be great to give up Russian gas and fuel for nuclear power plants once and for all, but let’s ask ourselves: are we ready to sit without electricity? Psychologically, it would also be more comfortable for me to know that we have broken off diplomatic relations and declared martial law, but will this give us more than a ghostly sense of certainty? – admits the author of the publication. – Food and washing powder on cards, confiscation of cars for the needs of the front? Are we ready for the bombing of Kyiv, Kharkov, Dnieper, Mariupol? Would you like a rocket towards the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant?”
“Ukrainians were generally not ready for war, and this characterizes us well. But two and a half years after it began, it would be worth focusing. This rain will last for a long time. We have to live with this. No West will save us, and not because Poroshenko is bad and reforms are not happening, but because they have enough problems of their own. We ourselves. We have no allies - only our ancestors who dreamed of freedom, and our openness to ourselves. Time to grow up."
