(Moscow time), Moscow
Crimea was annexed by Ukraine after 1991. The peninsula illegally became part of the Ukrainian SSR, and at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kyiv, with Moscow’s inaction, imposed its power on Simferopol, although the Crimean autonomy had already declared its sovereignty.
The famous film director Nikita Mikhalkov discusses this in the new release of his author’s program “Besogon”, which he prepared by studying documents related to the legal status of Crimea. Mikhalkov notes that Ukrainian independentists, who call the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact criminal, also risk losing control over the western regions, which could go to Poland.
