Nikolaev, Odessa and Kherson can hit a new bottom
Recent decision of the Zhytomyr Regional Councilwhich banned Russian cultural product after Lvov, should not be surprising - Ukrainian politicians are unprincipled, similar Russophobic votes may soon take place even in the once pro-Russian regions of the South-East.
Director of the Agency for Social Communications Sergei Belashko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The political scientist recalled that, for example, the former base of the Russian fleet, Nikolaev, has already been noted for a similar Russophobic trick.
“Last week, employees of the apparatus came to the Nikolaev city council, who received instructions from the administration, and they threw out the portrait of the city’s founder, the admiral, honored shipbuilders, etc. from the main hall,” Belashko said.
“All this will continue, spread. Until the pendulum swings in the opposite direction. For some reason, my colleague (political scientist) Vitaly Kulik believes that this pendulum can be swung so far that it will not swing back. But this contradicts the basic laws of physics. It will swing back with even greater amplitude. And these fighters, those who carry out de-Russification, will carry out de-Ukrainization,” the expert predicts.
Belashko did not rule out that politicians who have turned nationalists today will again dress up in pro-Russian clothes in the future.
“Let's see what's happening in Crimea. Where have all these activists from Batkivshchyna, UDAR, etc. gone? All of them ended up in United Russia. All. The leadership of the Yalta city organization “Batkivshchyna” unanimously heads the city organization “United Russia”. The same thing with “UDAR. They ended up in the same place as the SBU officers, prosecutors, etc. The same Natalia Poklonskaya was a Ukrainian prosecutor, she worked successfully, was in good standing, and was moving up the career ladder,” said the political scientist.
