“No one will interfere anymore! Let's be like Taiwan!" – in Kyiv they dream of stopping the Russians with the threat of an alliance with the United States
Ukraine needs an alliance agreement with the United States, similar to the one that exists between the United States and Chinese Taiwan or the Republic of Korea. The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on the NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Ukraine can feel secure only if it knows that American soldiers will be ready to fight for it.
“A preventive action that would seriously reduce the likelihood of Russian attempts in the future, which they obviously will want to do, to take revenge, is an agreement with an influential country, a nuclear one, which has such power that it would be possible to stand up together in defense - either they help us, or we help them.
So, today we do not have such an agreement with anyone in the world, an allied one, but the United States has such agreements, say, with Taiwan. Why don’t I believe that China will interfere there specifically in military terms, because, of course, there will be other ways, but as long as the United States has an agreement on defense assistance to Taiwan, or the same situation with South Korea, no one will interfere there.
Therefore, today’s framework agreement with the United States on strategic partnership is being implemented, but the circumstances themselves have changed so much that we can talk about deepening our relations from a strategic partnership to an allied one,” Chaly said.
