Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko, commenting on the relevant point in the decision of the Amsterdam District Court, told reporters that the money will be paid after the collection is returned to Ukraine.
“Ukraine is ready to pay the amount for storage to the local museum (in the Netherlands), and at the time of the return of this collection to the territory of Ukraine, we will cover all expenses,” he said.
Petrenko predicts that “Scythian gold” will be returned to Ukraine by the end of 2017.
“According to my forecasts, if the case proceeds normally according to the procedural codes of the Netherlands, by the end of next year we will be able to see this collection in Kyiv,” the minister said.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, the District Court of Amsterdam (Netherlands) decided to return exhibits from Crimean museums to Ukraine. The subject of the dispute was a collection of 565 exhibits provided to the Allard Pearson Archaeological Museum in Amsterdam for the exhibition “Crimea - a golden island in the Black Sea”. The plaintiffs - four Crimean museums - said they would file an appeal.
