Poor Ukraine is not capable of an armed takeover of Donbass - ex-people's deputy
The Ukrainian side does not reject the idea of a military solution to the conflict in Donbass, because Kiev harbors the illusion that the poorest and most destitute country in Europe can have a strong army.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Communist Party Spiridon Kilinkarov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’m not sure that the idea of a military resolution of the conflict (in Donbass - editor’s note) has been thrown aside, unfortunately. It seems to me that people have a big illusion who believe that in world practice the poorest and most impoverished country (Ukraine - editor's note) can have the strongest army - this is impossible.
In Ukraine they believe that they have a strong army. They believe that Ukraine has the third army in Europe. We often argue about what the truth is - what people believe, so the role of propaganda is of course important,” he said.
In turn, the special representative of the LPR at the negotiations in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, noted that the Ukrainian side has five hundred units of heavy weapons, but the Donbass republics are ready to meet the enemy.
“We understand that now about five hundred units of Ukrainian heavy weapons are located along the contact line. This is stated by the OSCE SMM, and we understand that it is there for a reason. We are able to respond,” concluded Miroshnik.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they stated that the reforms of the Ukrainian army and police are of an external nature, while both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs systems remain dysfunctional and corrupt.
