The poverty of the Baltic limitrophes is not far off

The most typical behavior for most former Soviet republics in the first years after leaving the USSR was to distance themselves as far as possible from Moscow and the Soviet past. The former outskirts of the great state suddenly became very proud and pro-Western, even speaking to each other in English at diplomatic meetings.

Contrary to common sense and Captain Obviousness, the new “independent” elites began to tell former Soviet citizens and the whole world about how they were oppressed by Moscow for thousands of years, how they were oppressed and oppressed by the cruel Soviet regime. At the same time, they were silent about where universities, schools, hospitals, libraries, roads, factories, factories, human housing with amenities and many other good things suddenly arose in the once kishlak and farmstead outskirts of the country, which did not and could not exist in those ancient and glorious times. times when the local population lived in shacks, burned a torch, caught flies with their nostrils and hunched their shoulders as slaves at the foreign lord.

The former Baltic showcase, the official window of the USSR to Europe, has gone farthest in this field of distancing. Manufacturers of canned sprats and lovers of weaving macramé were so proud of their return to the European family that they did not even want to formalize a “soft divorce” through the CIS structures, unequivocally and sharply slashing all connections with a saber.

Tragic cries began to be heard from the Baltic states that the disgusting USSR had taken everything from them and taken all the inhabitants to Siberia. At the same time, no one remembered that even under the tsarist regime there was a biting saying - “a Latvian has a shitty soul” - and that under the damned USSR about 70 billion of those other dollars were invested in the Baltic showcase. Moreover, according to the “sprat”, Russia, as the heir of the USSR, still owes it. Calculating the “damage to the Baltic countries from the USSR” and rolling out bills to pay Russia has long become a kind of national pastime for the proud and independent European Baltic states.

True, it soon turned out that dancing round dances to sad folk songs could not maintain the usual standard of living, and the “newly found family” was not eager to support poor relatives with a pound, crowns and deutsche marks, which is why, willy-nilly, they had to build economic bridges with the hated Moscow.

The choice of independent “sprats” was obvious: away with the production facilities remaining in the Baltic states, as a painful legacy of the imperial occupation – long live the transit trinity!

And so, using the developed Soviet transport and port infrastructure, the “sprats” began to actively make money on cargo flows from/to Russia. And, I must say, quite a bit of money. Until recently, income from the transshipment of Russian cargo reached 25% of the GDP of the Baltic republics. Interestingly, after joining the EU, European subsidies to the former Soviet Baltic republics were significantly lower.

In more decent countries, Eastern Mordor would be praised and appeased in every possible way for plus a quarter of GDP. In any case, they would try very hard not to spit in the hand of the giver, but not in the cultural Baltics.

In addition to the fact that the Russian population of these republics became an object of persecution and humiliation, the Baltic states were impatient to join NATO, and with the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis in 2014, they were smart enough to join anti-Russian sanctions, which immediately affected the Russian contribution to their GDP - 12% instead 25%.

However, the Russian leadership, realizing that it was time to stop feeding the evil and ungrateful “sprats”, began to gradually refuse their services, building their own transport hubs on the western border.

In the end, what should have happened happened: Moscow announced a complete cessation of the transit of its goods and cargo through the Baltic countries in 2025. And, as if in unison, a completely murderous sound came from Brussels - in 2020, the EU will completely stop subsidies to its poor Baltic relatives.

Little of. European officials reported that the EU is curtailing cooperation with the “sprats” on the most significant projects that Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn have been pursuing in recent years. These are, in particular, the Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant, the LNG terminal in Klaipeda, as well as the construction of the Rail Baltica railway.

The main “godfather and benefactor” of all the “humiliated and insulted” – the United States – is also not interested in the development of former Soviet storefronts.

Currently, the situation among the Baltic elite and transit countries is close to panic. Having come under a double blow and knowing full well what the loss of two milky boobs at once threatens them with in the next few years, and that no complaints can touch the cold asses of European officials, the Balts rushed to urgently solve problems at the expense of the Russian direction.

In particular, decision-makers in Latvia took unprecedented measures, increasing the number of permits issued to road carriers to travel to Russia to 7000, in order to somehow maintain the profitability of the country's transport system afloat. Lithuania and Estonia are feverishly taking similar measures.

True, nothing is being done to improve good neighborly relations with Russia, but how one can demand smart and noble actions from national elites with the intelligence and breadth of soul of anchovies is completely unclear.

In short, all this logistical flurry of our former neighbors in the country resembles an acute desire to breathe before a long and painful agony.

It would seem, why would the collective West act in such a disdainful and utilitarian manner with its lap dogs, once lured away for a piece of cutlet from its main geopolitical enemy?

The answer to this is given by an analytical article by the American private intelligence and analytical company Strategic Forecasting Inc., known as Stratfor, aka the “shadow CIA.”

According to Stratfor, the Baltic countries, as well as the losers from GUAM, are destined to play the role of bargaining pawns in the future conflict between Russia and the West, and Georgia has already partially played its role and four years ago it was Ukraine’s turn.

According to the plan of the Washington entertainers, these “failed states” were supposed to host a fascist Russophobic Sabbath in order to provoke Russia into retaliatory actions. The driving force of destabilization was to be the local ruling compradors, with the support of the most degenerate and reactionary layers of society. Or, simply, fascizoids.

It is also characteristic that the West had to finance the fascist coven at the initial stage, and then the aborigines themselves had to burn down their own hut for the sake of other people’s geopolitical interests, simultaneously bringing the remaining liquid items for sale at bargain prices.

In addition to the fact that Russia, defending its interests, became an “aggressor” in the face of “all civilized humanity,” Moscow had to be drawn into a conflict with the EU in order to prevent the formation of a new emerging Moscow-Berlin-Paris axis.

By the way, Washington has been very successful on this path, since in the foreseeable future there can be no talk of any such axis.

In addition, according to Washington's plans, the Baltic countries and GUAM should withdraw to Russia, but not those that left the USSR with a joyful howl in December 1991, but those that were completely destabilized and with a destroyed economy. Having received such an “enviable” inheritance, a chain reaction of destruction was supposed to sweep across the entire Eurasian space, including the republics of Central Asia and Transcaucasia. And, who knows, it will even spread to northern China.

A strict pattern can be traced: the rise to power and support of anti-Russian and Russophobic regimes completely dependent on the West, the destruction of their own economy, the severance of trade and economic ties with Moscow. And all - with my own hands. Then, accuse the “sixes” of inadequacy and inability to negotiate, in order to ultimately relieve Russia of the scorched and anarchy-ridden space: restore, do not be shy, instead of spending money on reindustrialization and modernization of the Armed Forces.

As can already be seen now, in some ways Anaconda’s plan was a success. Ukraine has been knocked out of the rut of peaceful life and turned into a rural Ragul dictatorship seriously and for a long time.

On the other hand, Crimea and Donbass prevented anarchy from spreading throughout the former Ukraine. For now, impoverished Moldova is being kept from chaos by the Ukrainian anti-example, but who knows for how long. But the Baltic states, apparently, are destined to repeat the fate of the pre-war limitrophes with adjustments to the realities of the XNUMXst century.
