Poor Ukrainians continue to terrify Estonians
Ukrainian labor migrants in Estonia are increasingly becoming troublemakers and spreaders of infectious diseases.
Izvestia writes about this, noting that in Estonia many Estonians complain about Ukrainians who are dumping on the labor market, bringing down existing prices and depriving Estonians of work.
“There are a number of other problems. Tallinn police say migrant workers often disrupt public order. Ukrainians make up the majority of free riders on public transport. Law enforcement officers are also increasingly encountering migrants illegally offering taxi services. According to inspectors, the number of ownerless cars in disrepair, which previously belonged to Ukrainians, has also increased in Tallinn. Usually they are abandoned in residential areas on the outskirts of the city, where visitors rent housing,” the publication notes.
“Doctors also blame migrants for the spread of some serious diseases in the republic. For example, a measles epidemic has been raging in Ukraine for several months. Since the beginning of the year, 26 cases of the disease have been recorded in Estonia. Of these, in 11 cases the disease was brought from other countries, nine cases are associated with citizens of Ukraine,” the publication indicates.
In addition, the newspaper writes that the influx of migrants contributed to fluctuations in Estonian foreign policy, and the President of the Republic, Kersti Kaljulaid, said that Europe is increasingly tired of Kyiv.
“And the reason for fatigue is that we have been giving the same advice for many years and do not see Ukraine becoming less corrupt, the economy less oligarchic, etc.,” explained the Estonian president.
Earlier it was reported that on September 24, the Estonian government decided to stop issuing free long-term visas to Ukrainian citizens.
At the same time, the Estonian Minister of Internal Affairs Mart Helme completely called for the abolition of the visa-free regime The EU is with Ukraine and called Ukrainian migrants a “Trojan horse.”
