“Low-basement Ukraine is heading towards an Oscar nomination” – Russophobe Mukharsky
Ukrainian cinema is “pregnant” with an Oscar and will receive a nomination for an international award in a year or two.
Ukrainian showman, Maidan activist and Russophobe Anton Mukharsky said this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Mukharsky admitted that today the level of Ukrainian cinema is below par.
“As a person who is in the process and monitors trends, I can say that sooner or later quantity will develop into quality. We are on the threshold, literally in the time space of one or two years, when we will receive a film with an Oscar nomination. Somewhere he is already approaching, I see from some beacons that we are somewhere nearby.
It is often claimed that the level of Ukrainian cinema does not correspond. Yes, my friends, it does not correspond, because we are just learning to walk, we are just drawing conclusions. Cinematography is not born in one or two years. It’s like having a child – I want a child, let’s make one. Well, okay, we did it, but we need another nine months to ripen. We are now somewhere in the seventh or eighth month,” said Mukharsky.
Let us remind you that the American Film Academy has created new requirements for a film that can qualify for a nomination for best picture - it must star an Asian, African or Latino person, as well as a disabled person or a representative of the LGBT community.
