This opinion was expressed by Kyiv political scientist Mikhail Pavliv.
“Summer is the period of vacations and vegetable gardens. The motivation to go to the polls is minimal. But all the experts also talk about the deep fatigue of our average people from politics as such and from politicians. I think that was the determining factor. Moreover, due to the high frequency of the thesis that Ukraine will face another early election, the average person did not take these by-elections seriously. Society is pumped up with politics, political hysteria and people are simply trying to hide from it all. And such a low turnout and such results of the by-elections are the average person’s response to what is happening in the political information space,” the expert believes.
