“We will try to make a very strong resolution. And it doesn’t matter how many votes we get. What is the problem. There are countries that support us, but they say that the UN General Assembly is not the place where human rights should be considered. But we believe that this is not so. We must take stronger and stronger steps. We must not avoid the issue of Crimea in every conversation,” Klimkin said.
He also threatened Russia with disaster after the Hague court makes a decision on two claims from Ukraine.
“Russia understands that the real disaster for it will be the final court decision, because it will have to be carried out. The court may impose sanctions on her. There are different options. Including restrictions on the right to vote in international organizations. We will work towards the maximum,” Klimkin said.
He also said that Ukraine will seek the introduction of personal sanctions by the EU against individuals involved in sentencing Crimean Tatars on charges of terrorism and extremism.
