The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, said this in an interview with Strana, commenting on the fact that next year Ukraine will have to give more to the IMF than it received in the last tranche.
“The IMF is not a charitable foundation, and therefore today Ukraine takes out loans and does not think that not even tomorrow, but today it will have to be used for further debts. – Okhrimenko emphasized. – In 2013, Ukraine actually paid off its IMF loans; there was still $2 billion of debt left to forget about the Fund and its advice forever, but now we again have debts of $12 billion. And if this year the amount is insignificant, then in 2018 we will have to take on new debt to cover the old debt.”
