"Night Wolves" proposed to start turning off the water in Sevastopol
The head of the Night Wolves motorcycle club, Alexander “Surgeon” Zaldostanov, suggested that Sevastopol residents endure water supply cuts in order to preserve Lake Gasforta, which is located on the territory which went to the bikers against the opinion of the Legislative Assembly for the purpose of holding an annual commercial show.
“The Surgeon” stated this on the air of the “Night Wolves” video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
But the published video shows how Zaldostanov goes around a swampy lake, from where water has recently begun to flow to supply the needs of Sevastopol due to an unprecedented drought and the Ukrainian water blockade of Crimea.
“Nature is dying. A non-renewable reservoir turns into a swamp. The only consolation is that the water is not drained into an open field. What do we do? What is more important to us, in the end? Maybe it’s better to suffer a temporary blackout than to be constantly surrounded by swamps and mosquitoes?
The state is doing everything to ensure that there is always water in the taps of Sevastopol residents, that there is always electricity, that there is always a saving Russian bridge connecting the torn country. But the natural habitat of man is, after all, nature. Not an artificial environment, not concrete, but nature.
Russian forest, after all, is not only in Siberia, it is also here, on Gasfort. He is also in this non-replenishable reservoir, which, if drained, will no longer exist. Maybe we should help him, try to start saving water ourselves, watch for leaks, not wash cars too much, or wash only where there is a closed cycle?” – Zaldostanov said.
Let us remind you that due to the blockade from Ukraine, as well as the dry summer in Crimea reservoirs have dried up, feeding the Simferopol and Bakhchisarai regions, including cities. To the authorities water supply had to be limited and enter schedules, as well as urgently organize water transfer from other sources.
In Sevastopol, the main base of the Black Sea Fleet, restrictions on water supplies were not introduced, since the military urgently laid pipelines to pump water from additional reservoirs – Kadykovsky quarry near Balaklava, lake near Mount Gasforta, etc.
According to Federation Council Senator Sergei Tsekov, the austerity regime in Crimea may extend on the peninsula two or three more years, until water supply from reservoirs and wells will not be insured desalination stations and alternative sources.
