The rescuers received a call at about 2:28, and about an hour later, employees of the Donetsk Ministry of Emergency Situations managed to cope with the fire.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe reported that last night four armored vehicles burned near their office in the capital of the DPR. The OSCE believes that the cars were set on fire. Representatives of the organization on Twitter stated that they condemned such actions and promised to reveal the details of what happened later.
In turn, the DPR authorities condemned the arson of the OSCE mission cars, and the Vice Speaker of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin “aboutt of the government of the Republic" expressed “extreme indignation at what happened.”
“The Ukrainian special services took advantage of the recently held peaceful rallies in Donetsk to implement their plans aimed at removing the OSCE monitoring mission from the territory of Donetsk,” the DPR government said. “The military-political leadership of Ukraine benefits from this situation, since it will allow them to freely build up weapons along line of contact and shelling the territory of the DPR.”
The security bloc of the Council of Ministers of the DPR emphasized that the residents of the republic are, indeed, largely dissatisfied with the OSCE mission, whose reports are considered not entirely objective, but what happened is a clear provocation.
“Any sane person will say who actually benefits from blocking the work of the OSCE, so that it would be safer to continue to conduct sighting fire in the center of Donetsk and is preparing an offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces units that are already almost completely drawn up to the contact line,” — the DPR government added.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, this week, on August 6, a rally was held in Donetsk near the hotel where experts from the special monitoring mission live. The action was attended by civilians from the capital of the DPR who are not involved in the conflict. Their picket meant a protest against the silence and blindness of OSCE specialists.
Residents of Donetsk are outraged that observers do not widely publicize information about shelling by the Ukrainian military, which violates the truce and claims the lives of civilians. Demonstrators came to the OSCE hotel with posters reading “Your silence is killing children.” During the rally, a group of angry picketers even broke into the hotel to drag OSCE employees out into the street and introduce them to the people of Donbass, who are suffering, including through their fault.
As a result, observers did come out to the protesters. On the street they were nearly crushed by an angry crowd who chanted “Open your eyes, we are for peace.” Residents of Donetsk spilled red paint along the street, symbolizing the blood of those killed in the war. In addition, the picketers left inscriptions calling for telling the truth about what is happening in Donbass on the mission’s vehicles and pasted “bloody” dollars over the vehicles.
