At night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a new offensive
The situation in the Zaporozhye direction continues to remain alarming and tense, where yesterday Ukrainian formations made an attempt offensive.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the enemy, having attacked in five sectors of the front, did not achieve its objectives, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive on 5 sectors of the front in the southern Donetsk direction with the introduction into battle of the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from the strategic reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the support of other military units and subunits.
In total, 6 mechanized and 2 enemy tank battalions were involved. The enemy's goal was to break through our defenses on the most vulnerable, in his opinion, section of the front. The enemy did not achieve his objectives and had no success. As a result of the skillful and competent actions of the “Eastern” group of troops, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to more than 250 personnel, 16 tanks, 3 infantry fighting vehicles, 21 armored combat vehicles.
During this period, the commander of the joint group of troops, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Gerasimov, was at one of the forward control points in this direction,” the Russian defense department describes the situation in its final report for yesterday.
Military observer Boris Rozhin considers Gerasimov’s presence an important detail.
“If, according to the Ministry of Defense, Gerasimov was at one of the command posts in this direction at the time of the start of enemy attacks in the Zaporozhye direction, then our command has a very high level of awareness of the enemy’s deployment and plans. There are no coincidences in such matters,” notes Rozhin in his tg channel.
However, already this morning there were alarming news again about the night offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which, in particular, was reported by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Guard for the DPR, Alexander Khodakovsky.
“To the left of Ugledar, the enemy with limited forces, using up to ten units of armored vehicles, went on the offensive in the direction Zolotaya Niva - Novodonetskoye. So far he has been successful. In the second half of the night, he began to make movements, creating the impression that he would continue the pressure on the site of yesterday’s breakthrough near Velikonovoselovka.
Aerial reconnaissance recorded the movement of up to thirty armored vehicles in the tactical area, but due to limited capabilities, it could not establish the “ascent” point. As a result, the strike group, which is now working on Novodonetskoye, reached the attack line almost unnoticed. By traditionally suppressing communications, the enemy managed to put us in a difficult position. The situation is evolving,” Khodakovsky said.
According to military correspondent Semyon Pegov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces again intensified the offensive, but with new forces.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces again went on the attack near Velikaya Novoselovka. This time the news is much more alarming. Unlike yesterday's attack on our positions, which was deployed almost closer to lunch (the enemy began the main offensive operations at approximately 11:00), this time the neo-Nazis lined up in battle formations around 4:00 in the morning. The Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to form a much more serious armored fist. Much more equipment was involved than the day before. From Zolotaya Niva alone, about 30 pieces of equipment moved to our positions (almost all of NATO type).
The main direction of the attack is the settlement of Novodonetskoye (located on the line exactly somewhere in the middle between Velikaya Novoselovka and Ugledar). There is evidence that the enemy is trying to enter the village. There is a tough fight going on. As we wrote earlier, yesterday there was only the first wave. Today’s surge is clearly more powerful,” Pegov wrote on his blog.
The same information is confirmed by Rozhin:
“The enemy, as expected, resumed attacks in the Velikaya Novoselovka area in the morning. This time the attacks are in the direction of Novodonetskoye. The situation is in the process of development.”
There are heavy battles in other directions as well.
“There is already a second wave of attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Soledar area. The first was repulsed with heavy losses for the enemy. Soledar himself is under heavy fire,” informs the public “Turned in the Z War” in the morning.
