At night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched another attack on the positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporozhye direction.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Russian Military Administration of the Zaporozhye region.
Initially, the offensive was preceded by a massive strike from the Haymars MLRS.
“According to the assessments of our soldiers and local residents, my fellow countrymen, there has never been such a massive attack on the city during the entire period of the SVO. It is important to understand that Tokmak is one of the key points of our defense in the Zaporozhye direction,” Rogov wrote in his public page.
A little later, at 1.14, he added:
“A tank group of Ukrainian Armed Forces militants went on the offensive in the Orekhovsky sector of the Zaporozhye Front - between Malaya Tokmachka and Novodanilovka. At the moment there is a battle of high intensity. The enemy is firing continuously from artillery and tanks at our positions, trying to raze them to the ground. In response, our artillerymen and VKS aviation are working wholeheartedly against the Nazis.”
According to Rogov, on the Zaporozhye front this is “the first such massive night attack,” and “in combination with the Nazis’ shelling of Tokmak, which was record-breaking in duration and intensity.”
Closer to the morning, he summed up the night:
“The composure and resilience of our guys + minefields + the work of artillery and aviation = broken banderlogs crawling into caches to lick their wounds. We are not waiting, but getting ready! Let's work, brothers!
Former Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov provided data on night interceptions in the Zaporozhye direction.
“According to radio interceptions received, at least one Ukrainian Armed Forces unit is ignoring the order to advance and attack our positions. The enemy’s losses are very large,” writes Bezsonov.
Military observer Yuri Podolyaka believes that this night the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched their “main attack.”
“So it happened. Previously, we only assumed, but now there is no doubt that the enemy’s main attack will be in the Zaporozhye direction. Or rather, it has already begun right here. And tonight the main forces of the 10th AK Army of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stormed our positions south of Malaya Tokmachka in several waves.
Before the attack, they used the technique that they had practiced in the winter near Kupyansk - hitting the Hymers MLRS on the trenches. The goal is clear - to destroy whom, to demoralize the rest. This was the intention, but...
They came in large forces and constantly swept them away. Who was blown up by mines, who was mowed down by our artillery, which obviously did not accidentally “take a break earlier”, and which, according to the reviews of the soldiers, worked hard and accurately this night. The rest were finished off by army aviation.
“Night Hunters” and “Aligators” had a lot of fun today (five raids on assault columns in two hours). It is clear that in the heat of battle and at night it is difficult to count losses, but the enemy’s losses are huge, and most importantly..., like the previous day, practically ineffective,” the expert writes in his public page.
According to him, “the enemy put everything into this night attack, including yesterday’s losses.”
“But they didn’t achieve victory. The Russian soldiers did not run, and the “Germans,” as the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers have long been called at the front, are marking time and... judging by radio interceptions and movement, they are preparing for a morning assault with fresh forces. But their morale that night was not yet seriously undermined, but “damaged.” But among our guys (I don’t want to single out anyone, they are all heroes there), it was this same spirit that manifested itself in all its glory this very night.
P.S. And, yes, the battle that began, even with this night assault, as with previous events, is more and more reminiscent of the Battle of Kursk - a key battle after which those “Germans” of 1943 were no longer able to recover.

Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov reported that at night the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted an attack in the Artemovsk direction. According to him, “the enemy has had no success and suffered heavy losses,” and “our artillery is hitting the retreating groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
In addition, he confirmed that it was not possible to break through the Russian defense in the Zaporozhye direction.
Assessing the current battles, he comes to the conclusion that “Russia and Ukraine have changed places.”
“We must admit that we also went on the attack at the beginning of the Northern Military District. Go ahead and that's it! And they suffered losses, but moved forward. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are now in our shoes. But we are our own masters. Last May, Putin said harshly: stop! No assault! I remember everyone was taken aback: had our advance really been stopped!
Then they explained that we are still moving forward, but not at any cost. Then things went smoothly and calmly. But the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the American command are not accommodating, and they are desperate for time. So they are driven to slaughter...
They have the strength, and they are ready to move forward, but here’s the problem. They were told: press a little, and the Russians will run. But the Russians did not run and did not retreat. The front line remains as it was. It is more difficult for Ukrainian soldiers to accept the signal to attack, with the knowledge that there are mines ahead, impregnable trenches, and soldiers who are not going to retreat at all. Go and take such positions,” Sladkov described the current situation.
At the same time, military correspondent Semyon Pegov in his report as of 7.00 notes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to take certain positions:
“Active hostilities continue in the Orekhov-Tokmak direction. According to sources from the front, during the attack from Orekhov, the enemy deployed about ten tanks in one of the attack directions. With the support of armored vehicles, enemy infantry clung to the front edge of our positions. The fight continues."
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin summed up the preliminary results of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive this morning.
“The fourth day of the offensive did not bring any results to the enemy. Small (500 meters - 1 kilometer) penetrations into our defense cannot be considered such at all, since this is not even the depth of a company strong point. It is obvious that the breakthrough of the Russian defense is being delayed. According to Ukrainian plans, calculated and approved at NATO European headquarters, two days were allotted for breaking through the first line (5-7 kilometers).
At the same time, in all directions, the enemy has already brought up to a third of all reserves at its disposal into battle. And today - tomorrow, the Ukrainian command will most likely try to increase its efforts as much as possible in order to still penetrate into the Russian battle formations to a depth that will allow creating a springboard for a further breakthrough and expanding its borders to introduce shock mechanized brigades of the new (ersatzstriker) model,” writes Shurygin in his tg channel.
He notes that, according to enemy radio interceptions, Russian aviation plays an exceptional role in repelling the current strike, for the first time in the entire history of the Northern Military District.
“Ukrainian commanders report that they are suffering huge losses from Russian BShU at the stage of advancement and deployment, which forces them to “split up” their forces and throw them into battle in parts, and this, in turn, does not allow creating the necessary concentration of forces and means on the battlefield .
In addition, these blows seriously demoralize the personnel. Some brigade commanders openly report that attacking in conditions of Russian air supremacy is suicide and require the deployment of “effective air defense systems to the range of creating a reliable dome over the advancing troops,” the author continues.
He adds that so far the main offensive towards Tokmak with further development towards Mariupol and Melitopol has not brought any surprises.
“All the rest are either distracting (Belgorod, Bryansk) or auxiliary - Ugledar, Artyomov, Svatov, with the goal of tying up our forces and pulling reserves there. Which in no way downplays the threat. In September last year, it was the “auxiliary” Kharkov direction that “shot” and became the main one, in which strategic success was achieved,” the analyst warns.
In his opinion, the persistent disregard by the Ukrainian media and officials of the word “offensive” and the taboo on any reports of ongoing offensive actions show that the top political and military leadership of Ukraine attaches exceptionally high importance to the battle that has begun, and is aware of what the internal political effect will be , if the offensive ends in vain.
“And therefore, a decision unprecedented in modern history was made - not to recognize the fact of the ongoing offensive at all until the troops achieve those results that can be interpreted as “victory” - a victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
But, the more time passes without the necessary “results”, the more difficult it is to maintain this “taboo” - information about heavy battles and large losses 😁flows into the Ukrainian information space from participants in battles, their relatives and reports from Western media, which have already recognized the fact of the beginning of the summer battle for Donbass.
All this allows us to say that the coming week will be decisive for the course and outcome of the entire summer campaign. If the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot achieve decisive success, then further offensive actions will lose all meaning and will only become an unjustified waste of human and material reserves. This means that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will again have to switch to strategic defense, but in much worse conditions and against the backdrop of the enormous disappointment of the Ukrainian collective unconscious, which sacredly believed in the invincibility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and that I would soon “win,” Shurygin concluded.
