“Issues related to international efforts to help resolve the internal Ukrainian crisis were discussed. The ministers reviewed the situation in Ukraine in all its aspects, paying special attention to the tasks of an early cessation of hostilities, ensuring control at the border, delivering humanitarian aid to the South-East of Ukraine and creating conditions for the speedy start of the political settlement process,” the Russian Foreign Ministry informed.
“Some progress has been made on all these issues. It was agreed to continue the dialogue in this format, the results of which could result in specific proposals being submitted for consideration by the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine,” says a message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Five hours of the most difficult conversation. But, probably, in order to move forward, it will take many times five hours,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said on his Twitter account, saying that a compromise was never found. Let us note that earlier in an interview with foreign media, Klimkin noted that he asked the EU and NATO for military assistance.
At the same time, as German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said, “the conversation was difficult, but there was progress on some points.”
As Navigator reported, a meeting may take place at the end of August at the level of the heads of state of the Customs Union member states and the President of Ukraine.
