About it Ukrainian political scientist and blogger Vladimir Kornilov writes on his social network page.
“In order for Kyiv to fall behind, deputies in Krasny Liman, in pursuance of the law on “decommunization,” decided to rename Krasny Liman to Krasny Liman. But not that Red one, but another Red one. What’s incomprehensible here?” Kornilov wrote.
According to the political scientist, in the early 90s, he, then still a social activist in the Donbass, similarly defended against renaming the Voroshiolovsky district of Donetsk.
“I, too, at one time (back in the early 90s) defended the name of my native Voroshilovsky district in Donetsk, known to us from childhood as Voroshilovka. When the district council, in the wake of the campaign to expose Stalin and his henchmen, had almost decided to rename it, I proposed to agree with this idea, rename the district and name it in honor of the presenter “What? Where? When?" Voroshilov. Since then, the district has remained Voroshilovsky, despite the conjuncture, the variability of fashion and even the revendums held there...”, Vladimir Kornilov shares his memories.
