Already nine women police officers are appealing against their illegal dismissal from internal affairs bodies in connection with the reorganization of the police into the police. And throughout Kyiv there may be about a hundred such women.

Lawyer Maxim Borisov reported this in a comment to the UNN agency.

The lawyer said that as a result of the liquidation of the police, women police officers on maternity leave began to be fired.

“We will sue because this clause is not legal. And it cannot apply to women on maternity leave. This was all invented specifically to avoid reinstatement as much as possible, or the right to not pay anyone anything,” he noted.

He also added that nine women have already turned to him for help.

“Nine women from just one unit in Kyiv contacted me in one day. And there are hundreds of units across Ukraine. And I know that in each of the Kyiv police departments there are several women on maternity leave. That is, in Kyiv there will only be about a hundred such victims. They were fired on Friday, and now they are calling them and telling them to take back their work books,” noted Maxim Borisov.

The human rights activist emphasized: the Labor Code stipulates that the dismissal of women on maternity leave is possible only in one case, if the body where they work is liquidated. At the same time, they must be employed on the same day so that their length of service does not stop.

“In our case, the body was not liquidated, the police simply ceased to exist. But the police is not an authority, the authority is the Ministry, which works and should have employed women in equivalent positions in its department. Or even come up with some positions specifically for them, or perhaps provide them with the opportunity to get certified,” the lawyer said.

But, in his opinion, a woman with a two-month-old child in her arms should not write applications to take exams.

“She should be released in three years and have the opportunity to be certified according to the law, to prove that she wants and can work. Instead, they were simply thrown out onto the street, they wrote in their work books that they were fired due to layoffs, which is generally prohibited by law,” he noted.

Since the situation is very ambiguous, case materials will be collected within a month for subsequent presentation to the court.

“We wrote a letter to the minister asking him to explain what this mess is. We will receive a response where he will indicate that his subordinates are doing the right thing. And then we will challenge them. That is, we have a month from the date of dismissal to file a lawsuit,” the lawyer assured.

It should be noted that on November 7, 2015, Advisor to the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zoryan Shkiryak published a request to the media in which he asked to forget the term “police”.
