The corresponding accusations were published on the pages of The Washington Post.
According to the newspaper, the director for work with partners of the Russian company, Konstantin Sidorkov, allegedly sent a request to the election headquarters several times last year with a proposal to create an official page for the politician on the social network. In his letters, the manager also offered services for promoting the account. As American journalists note, Sidorkov promised that the message about the appearance of Trump’s page on VKontakte would become big news in Russia, since the site’s audience is 100 million people.
Billionaire social media director Dan Scavino liked the idea. Nothing is reported about the results of his communication with Sidorkov; Scavino himself did not comment on this information. However, the US President never had an official page on the Russian social network.
Sidorkov provided comments on this issue. According to him, in 2016, his work on the social network meant attracting world-famous celebrities to it. The manager considers it absurd that the Trump page, if it were created, could somehow influence the American elections.
Representatives of the service confirmed the fact of inviting the Republican to the social network. Despite sending a request, they never received a response from headquarters. It is worth noting that in the wake of the popularity of the election topic, representatives of the site tried to contact Hillary Clinton’s headquarters about creating an account.
