New threat to Ukraine: To spite Russia I will freeze my ears
The initiative to cancel passenger rail traffic with Russia is “punishment of the Russian Federation” for inspections of merchant ships traveling through the Kerch Strait to the Sea of Azov. Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladimir Omelyan stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the railway blockade would be a “palpable” blow to Russia.
“First of all, we are talking about blocking passenger rail traffic. This is our initiative, which we propose to consider at the government meeting in the near future as one of a set of anti-measures regarding the situation in the Sea of Azov and Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territories, which we have been observing over the past years.
The situation in Azov is getting worse, the Russian side is not reacting and is brutally violating all international treaties. We believe that such a countermeasure will be tangible,” Omelyan said.
