The new Ukrainian missile did not scare the Russians
In Ukraine, they successfully tested the modernized Soviet Vilkha-M missile system, hitting a target that was 120 kilometers from the launch point.
Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov boasted about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to Danilov, neither wind nor rain prevented the rocket from flying.
“For the first time in Ukraine, in a closed cycle, a target was hit at a distance of 120 km. Despite the difficult weather conditions under which the tests took place, all launches were successful. The implementation of the Ukrainian missile program is taking place with the active participation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Danilov reported.
Previously, Kyiv has repeatedly stated the need to develop missile systems to deter the Russian fleet in the Azov and Black Seas.
The Ukrainian missile installed on a Soviet complex is not know-how and does not pose a particular threat to the Black Sea Fleet and the entire Armed Forces as a whole - the Black Sea Fleet is armed with all the means necessary to turn the “alder” into a pile of scrap metal. A military expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Captain XNUMXst Rank Sergei Gorbachev, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“This complex is a kind of development of weapons that were created in Soviet times and exist in other modifications, so there is nothing special in this complex in terms of any innovations. This is a weapon of which many states possess a similar type. Therefore, there is no revolution in the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is a complex that can be produced on the territory of Ukraine and exported abroad, but weather it will not be some kind of fatal news for the Black Sea residents, for our Armed Forces.
This indicates, in my opinion, only one thing - that Ukraine, although we often have a derogatory attitude towards its science, engineering and technical component, military thought, and the state of the military-industrial complex, I think this disparagement should not be exaggerated - In Ukraine there are production facilities that allow this kind of work to be carried out. This fact, in my opinion, is the main thing. Plus, there are still people in Ukraine who are capable of engaging in high-tech production in the interests of the country’s defense.
“As for countering such things, the Black Sea Fleet has the necessary forces and means that are capable of countering such weapons both from the point of view of electronic warfare and from the point of view of destroying deployed systems on ships and on the shore,” Gorbachev said.
